Everybody Hurts Launches to a Capacity Audience at Nenagh Arts Centre

Amidst an emotionally charged night of music, poetry and talk, Nenagh's Misneach Choir launched their debut single at the town's Arts Centre on Friday night, 29 August.

Hosted by the wonderful Sandra Farrell, the choir opened proceedings with a rendition of the classic One Love by Bob Marley. The evening included a moving address by C-SAW founder Joe Leahy who described the work of the organisation to a packed house.

Misneach continued to share their musical gifts with a special presentation of Labi Siffre's Something Inside So Strong. Choir member and conductor, Louise Hogan, brought the audience to a stunned silence with a devastating delivery the poem Stay, by the poet James Mooney.

Local priest, Fr Lorcan Kenny, himself a warrior for charitable causes across the Midwest, had the great honour of performing the official launch of Everybody Hurts. Paying tribute to the Misneach Choir for their efforts to raise funds for, and awareness of C-SAW, with their debut recording, Fr Lorcan unveiled the artwork that will accompany the song on its digital journey across the various streaming platforms.

Before the leaders of the choir, and their guest soloist, Collie Hogan, ended the evening with their many 'thank-you's' to those who supported the project and the launch event, it was time for Misneach to grant their captive audience the first live performance of their interpretation of REM's Everybody Hurts.

Followed by several standing ovations and a veritable outpouring of emotion, one of C-SAW (Nenagh branch) leaders, Brendan Murphy, brought the evening to a close by paying tribute to Misneach, to all the C-SAW volunteers, and to the many associated organisations and individuals who made the launch of this special song such a success.

Everybody Hurts by the Misneach Choir featuring Collie Hogan is available on the following platforms. All proceeds will be donated to C-SAW.
